Stanton Norfolk Inc. is a division of Asian Americans for Equality, Inc. (AAFE) that manages the day-to-day operations of over 800 units of affordable housing across nearly 50 multifamily properties serving over 1,100 individuals and families in Manhattan and Queens neighborhoods, including Chinatown/Lower East Side, Flushing, and the Far Rockaways.  Currently, Stanton Norfolk’s portfolio is comprised of full tax credit / affordable properties, as well as commercial spaces as part of mixed-use buildings.  We pride ourselves in providing a full breadth of management services to provide quality, safe, and affordable housing; maintenance; financial reporting; and resident relations. 


Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization based in New York City. AAFE is nationally recognized as an innovative affordable housing developer and property manager; we have created and preserved more than 1,000 affordable rental units in Manhattan and Queens and provided over $400 million in mortgage financing for first-time homebuyers. Through our affiliate, Renaissance Economic Development Corporation, AAFE supports immigrant entrepreneurs, offering low-interest loans and training programs. From neighborhood offices in Chinatown and the Lower East Side (Manhattan) and Flushing and Jackson Heights (Queens) we provide an array of multilingual counseling and educational programs in support of low-income tenants, seniors and immigrant youth. AAFE strives for a more equitable city, through research, advocacy and grassroots community organizing.




Stanton Norfolk is looking for a full-time Clerical Assistant. This is a great entry-level opportunity to start a career in property management.  Reporting to the Junior Property Manager, the Clerical Assistant will be the glue that holds it all together by providing administrative support, report preparation, data entry, file maintenance and providing top-notch customer service to internal and external customers.  The ideal candidate will love to learn and will thrive in understanding the “how” and “why” things are done.


  • Receive incoming calls & redirect them to the appropriate staff. Ensure professional communication skills in dealing with staff by telephone, in-person or in writing. Promote excellent customer service
  • Assist in scheduling meetings/appointments and in taking detailed minutes
  • Perform data entry, processing, filing and maintenance of documents and files ensuring that that the records are updated and readily accessible
  • Work directly with applicants for affordable housing in requesting and obtaining required documents
  • Type memoranda, correspondences, reports, forms and other miscellaneous typing as needed
  • Maintain contact lists
  • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
  • Order, track and maintain inventory of office supplies
  • Distribute and disseminate information to staff.
  • Prepare outgoing mail and/or packages.
  • Participate in special projects
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing work results as needed




  • High School degree or equivalent with any experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the job responsibilities.
  • One-year experience as a clerical or data entry assistant, administrative assistant or any relevant office support experience. 
  • A successful track record of working in a fast-paced, complex environment, working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize workloads, maintain systems and manage competing demands
  • The ability to work calmly and confidently under pressure
  • Excellent written communication skills with an ability to adapt tone and message for difference audiences
  • Working knowledge of office equipment such as printers, scanners and fax machines
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google Drive, MDS experience is a plus
  • Strong data entry experience with emphasis on speed and accuracy
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Bilingual in English/Chinese or English/Spanish is a plus

COMPENSATION: $20.00/hr to $22.00/hr

AAFE offers rich benefits, recognition, opportunities for professional growth and competitive salaries.  Salary offers will be based on the candidate’s experience in similar roles and will fall approximately at a $20 hourly rate.
