Overview

Fiscal AAFE, Inc, manages the finance and accounting support for Fiscal corporate activities and initiatives.  

 

Summary:

 

The Junior Accountant is the staff member responsible for assisting in Fiscal wide Financial Planning and Analysis (“FP&A”) activities at the direction of the FP&A head and Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Data gathering and validation - Assist other Fiscal AAFE personnel in expediting the timely flow of information at the segment and AAFE consolidated for such areas such as Debt management and Grants management.
  • System controls – Responsibilities include stabilizing data integrity (e.g., creating business specific databases).
  • Process Controls 
  • System maintenance – Responsibilities include coordination across Fiscal teams for timely processing of change requests (new, change, terminated GL Accounts and mappings). 
  • Monthly / Quarterly / Annual closing process – Maintain the closing calendar (e.g., meetings, milestones, roles, responsibilities). Create Centers of Excellence – Develop expertise for a Fiscal function (e.g., Grants management, insurance, debt).
  • Reporting and Analysis 
  • Annual financial statement independent auditor review – Coordinating preliminary analysis for journal entries, supporting documentation and justification for the entries as requested by the FP&A head or CFO. 
  • AAFE management reporting 
    • Prepare preliminary monthly/ quarterly/ annual financial and non-financial reports and analysis (e.g., rent billing and Operating Expense/Tax/Utility true up) for FP&A head or above review and approval. 
    • Contribute to the preparation and coordination of the segment and AAFE consolidated annual operating budget. 
    • Support the onsite segment leaders, Co-EDs, CFO and other site personnel in various aspects of financial reporting. 
    • Assist the team with the various reporting (e.g., tax returns, financial statements) to Regulatory Agencies and for the FP&A head or above review and approval. 
    • Perform ad hoc requests that arise from time to time - mostly from Fiscal, Co-ED or segment leaders.

Qualifications

  • Novice experience and knowledge of non-for-profit and for-profit tax and insurance activities, rules and regulations.
  • Novice background with preparing monthly and quarterly financial reporting and analysis.
  • Experience with of Accounts Payable/Receivable processes and controls.
  • Experience with reviewing Financial Statements.
  • 1-3 years of corporate accounting and finance experience.
  • Knowledge of accounts payables procedures and principles.
  • Understanding of general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized.
  • Excellent organization and administration skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail, thoroughness, and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including PowerPoint, Word.
  • Advanced knowledge in MS Excel (Excel formulas and model)
  • Familiarity with MIP or other accounting software preferred.
